Hemet Unified School District are designed to be flexible enough to provide a positive educational environment for
all students, yet structured enough to ensure the development of the basic academic skills.
The District maintains a staff of approximately 1,100 certificated and 800 classified employees, not including substitutes. Salary schedules are competitive with other districts in the area of comparable size. A comprehensive fringe benefit program is offered to the employees of the District. Hemet Unified strives to maintain a 30:1 district wide student/teacher ratio with K-3 class sizes at 20:1 supported by state and federal funding.
Children living at Cheyenne will attend Fruitvale Elementary, Santa Fe Middle School and the brand new Tahquitz High School that is opening in the Fall of 2007
Gateway to a Beautiful State Park
The summit of Mt. San Jacinto stands more than 10,800 feet high, the second highest point in Southern California. Mt. San Jacinto State Park, reached by car or via the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, is a beautiful wilderness area that can be entered by permit only. Park facilities include family campsites, hiking and bicycling campsites, scenic hiking and bicycling trails, nature trails and horse trails. Visitors also can enjoy guided tours. Diamond Valley Lake
Just minutes away from Cheyenne you'll find Diamond Valley Lake, often referred to as the jewel of California Lakes. This beautiful reservoir is the site of a planned recreation Mecca that will draw thousands of people to the area for boating, sailing, shore and boat fishing, water fowl hunting, camping and host of proposed recreation amenities. The Diamond Valley Aquatic Center is now open and offers entertainment for the entire family including pool houses, a water gym and waterslide. Diamond Valley Lake is embarking on a substantial trail system that will allow visitors to hike and ride through the hills surrounding the reservoir. The six mile North Hills Trail is open for horseback riding and hiking and the Lakeview Trail is now open for hiking and biking. Boating is allowed on the lake; and fishing boats, bass boats and pontoon’s are available for rental. Diamond Valley Lake is the state’s newest fishing lake featuring extensive fish habitats, regular trout and catfish plants, and some of the most unique and challenging largemouth bass fishing in the West. Coastline and boat fishing are featured at Diamond Valley Lake with some exciting tournaments being held.
Valley-Wide Recreation & Park District
Residents of San Jacinto and surrounding communities are served by the Valley-Wide Recreation & Park District, highlighted by the 36-acre Regional Park in San Jacinto. This recreational jewel includes a 22,000-square-foot sports center, six soccer fields, seven baseball diamonds (some lighted), batting cages, lighted tennis courts, outdoor basketball and volleyball courts, horseshoe pits, and picnic areas with barbecues and children’s play equipment. The sports center’s gymnasium is a popular spot for weddings, birthday parties, holiday gatherings, fundraisers, craft shows and other special events.
Convenient Shopping, Culture and Entertainment
